                                OBJECTIVES

The T.R.U.S.T. recognizes that the challenges of a successful re-entry into society require inclusion, equity, education, employment, empowerment and opportunity. Therefore it is important that we build a bridge between the internal prison community and the external community. This connection allows area-specific professionals to stimulate and assist the transformation that incarcerated men must go through, in order to make a successful transition to a non-incarcerated life. To this end, the T.R.U.S.T. serves the following internal (inside San Quentin) and external (in the outside community) objectives on a consistent basis:

                                Internal
                                • To constructively utilize the membership and outside resources to promote better self-worth and a more positive attitude through interaction with others. One way we do this is through acting as role models.
                                • To initiate and develop projects that assist our fellow T.R.U.S.T. Fellows and/or their families through group counseling, positive interactions, workshops, seminars, lectures and whatever means are available for T.R.U.S.T. Fellows to give or receive assistance.
                                External
                                • To initiate and maintain communication with individuals, the National Trust organization, as well as Federal, State, Local and Private agencies for the purpose of sharing information, support and enlightenment.
                                • To review the functions of T.R.U.S.T. Affiliates in other prisons and communities through the informal exchange of ideas, techniques, and advice.
                                • To function as an Advisory Body to interested parties who desire to interact with the San Quentin T.R.U.S.T. Fellows.
                                • To assist and encourage T.R.U.S.T. Fellows, individuals, and T.R.U.S.T. Affiliates to the extent of our available resources.
                                • To accept, raise and disperse funding for carrying out San Quentin T.R.U.S.T. events and functions.
